There are two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, the other, wings.

Just in case you were wondering.

Tooth Fairy Trouble

So it finally happened...

Miss Independent started showing signs of truly growing up by losing her first baby tooth.

I was sad.

I was also frustrated that it happened while we were out of town and I was not prepared.

And here's where the frustration came from...

I was TOTALLY prepared for the event by having a little pillow and bag, journal, bedtime story and gold coins all ready to go since she'd been telling me her tooth was loose for two weeks.

Anyway -- Aunt Judy came to the rescue and we made the event special for Miss Independent.

Another funny thing that happened was that she REALLY lost her tooth. It's somewhere in my van, even though I told her the Tooth Fairy found it. I guess I'd better do some better digging before Miss Independent finds it. Somehow I just have a feeling she will since none of my "planning" for this event went right.

Oh well, at least I'll be ready for Little Miss to loose her first tooth. I hope.

VOTE for Claire and Sydney, beginning April 1!

Please vote for Claire and Sydney in the Shutterfly Birthday Photo Contest, which starts April 1, 2010.

You can view the photo, which was taken for their first birthday party invitations in 2005, at the link below.

The photo with the most votes wins $1,000, which I’d like to put toward their college fund.

Thanks for taking the time to check out the entry. I’ll post a reminder when it’s time to place a real vote.

Thanks and wish us luck!

Eclipse is almost here!

Holy my heart hurts, Batman! The first Eclipse trailer is out and it's AWESOME!

Of course we all know the movie won't be as good as the book, but I'm telling you people, it looks good and I'm still a fan of the story. I think it's the world's best love story, love triangle, etc.

Even if you don't agree with me, you Romeo and Juliet die hards should still check out the trailer.

Thank you, Sweetheart!

So this post is a little late, but I need to say thank you to The Man for giving me a really cool Christmas gift. I'm finally using it and LOVING every (well, almost every) minute of it.

Thanks to The Man, I have finally joined the iPod revolution. I know, I know -- it's like five years late, but that's how I roll...

So he gave me this little iPod Nano and I love it. I have downloaded so many of my favorite songs and I rock out whenever no one else is around.

Today, I'm listening to Lionel Richie's, Truly: The Love Songs and I'm singing at the top of my lungs. Just another reason I love working from home.

Thanks, Babe. I love my new little toy and I love you...Truly.

Disney bound!

Sing it with me...

M - I - C...K - E - Y... M - O - U - S - E!

Can you tell I'm excited?

We are bound for Disney World in just 12 short days, and we can barely wait.

The Man has been working in Florida for the past four weeks so in additon to seeing Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the gang; we also get to see... Daddy!

Being apart has been hard on all of us and I for one am ready to do the parks and then bring The Man home. We'll see how it goes as there are big changes for his job in the works. However, that's a story for another day -- I can't think about that right now -- I'm too busy focusing on the fun we'll have with the kids as we explore Orlando.

OH! And did I mention that my mom is coming with us? We're going to celebrate the girls 5th birthday and her 60th -- a little late -- but in classic Disney-style. Fun will be had by all!

So, stay tuned for pictures and an update from the parks in a little less than two weeks! WOO HOO!!!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday and the girls are celebrating at school with green eggs and ham, Cat in the Hat hats and lots of other Dr. Seussy types of things. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to upload soon.

As an aspiring Children's book author, I can't help but reflect on what a remarkable legacy Dr. Seuss has left for us. His writing is timeless and classic; and regardless of my mood, always makes me smile.

I love, love, love reading his books with my children and I especially love reading "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" Thanks to Uncle E. for sending this favorite to the girls this past Christmas.

If you haven't read it in a while, I highly recommend doing so.

Now, before I close this post, I must also say that today is my mother-in-law's birthday, so I thought I'd send her some Dr. Seuss-style wishes:

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
With cakes, pies and play.

You have loved ones who love you.
You have happiness and health.
You can make everyone's day,
And that's a gift more than wealth!

We love you Mom Beverly,
And we hope you have fun.
As mother-in-law's go...
You're sure number one!
